Climate change has become a daily reality: we see record-breaking heat year after year, typhoons striking even in December, depleted ocean resources, vanishing glaciers, deforestation of ancient forests… Amid these global challenges, critical to the future of all species on Earth, we must ask: what role can culture play?
This session combines a lecture and workshop, specially designed for the Hong Kong dance community. Art practitioners, producers, choreographers, dancers and arts administrators are all welcome to join. It introduces essential knowledge of climate change and sustainable development, and explores how culture and the arts can contribute through “advocacy, practice and conservation”. Participants will also learn from international case studies, encouraging dance and cultural practitioners to reflect and spark new ideas on how to take the first step for sustainability in Hong Kong.
Speaker and Workshop Leader:Louis Yu Kwok-lit MH
